Blue Jackets drop assistant trainer who may not get vaccinated


COLUMBUS, OHIO —
The Columbus Blue Jackets mentioned Monday that the group has changed an assistant trainer who declined to get a COVID-19 vaccination.

Sylvain Lefebvre used to be changed on trainer Brad Larsen’s body of workers through Steve McCarthy as a result of “Lefebvre has made up our minds to not obtain a COVID-19 vaccine and thus will be unable to accomplish the tasks required of him given present NHL protocols,” in step with a group observation.

NHL coaches and different group body of workers who carefully have interaction with avid gamers are required to be absolutely vaccinated.

“Whilst we’re disenchanted, we admire that this resolution is a private one for Sylvain and want him smartly,” Blue Jackets common supervisor Jarmo Kekalainen mentioned.

Lefebvre, a former NHL defensemen and longtime trainer within the American Hockey League, used to be added to the body of workers in July through Larsen, the previous Blue Jackets assistant who changed the fired John Tortorella.

McCarthy is a former NHL defensemen who used to be promoted from the Cleveland Monsters, the group’s American Hockey League associate, for which he used to be an assistant trainer.

“Steve has performed an excellent task operating with our younger defensemen in Cleveland the previous 5 years and is able for this chance,” Larsen mentioned.
